**Short answer:** Yes. A fiber laser can engrave most polymers used on firearms, including PMags, Glock and Sig frames, and many aftermarket grips. The key is controlling heat: polymer melts and bubbles if you hit it like steel. Our standard Edge 50W marking presets for Glock frames, Sig frames, and PMags each run a single pass at 24 to 42% power. Test on a scrap or hidden spot first, and run fume extraction every time. **Short answer:** For most gun shops, a Q-switched fiber laser is the better fit. It handles serial numbers, deep engraving on steel and aluminum, coated parts, and even color marking on stainless steel and titanium. In our testing, it also has a longer focal range, which makes curved and uneven parts more forgiving. A MOPA makes sense if you need the widest possible range of colors, deep-black marks on anodized aluminum, or a lot of polymer work, and those jobs are a real part of your business.
